Sylvia has always been the one with strength to lean on during tough times—but now? She may smile and say she is ok but in reality, but now it feels like the world has shifted under her feet. Her body has fought a fierce battle against cancer but is still facing many more with other ailments that are taking a toll physically and mentally. Keeping her from doing things that she loves most and unable some days to do the least bit that she needs to accomplish. As for work... well, let’s just say she is unable to do much of anything right now and as a result has had to apply for disability, much to her dismay, which is currently going through the long and arduous approval process.

Bills are piling up—every month bringing new demands that her depleted savings can no longer cover, her 401k is completely gone and family resources, especially with the current economy, are quite thin. Her insurance stopped covering visits with her oncologist, leaving her facing out-of-pocket costs that hit deep and have made it impossible to go to much needed appointments and some medications are not covered at all. It’s a scary place to be financially and emotionally as she waits on her disability to be approved and make life livable once again.

But we know there is hope hope—I know there are people who care about others, even if they don't really know them well or at all for that matter. I believe in community, and in generosity when it feels like we have nothing else to give but our hearts. You have made a difference for her when this first started- now, as she is almost to the finish line of this years long nightmare, we ask for your assistance and support one last time.
