My name is Sylvia and I'm 37 years old. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this, but today I'm asking for help as my family and I face one of the hardest chapters of our lives. I was recently diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, an aggressive form of breast cancer. In an instant, my life changed from being a busy mom and working to provide for my family to preparing for surgery, chemotherapy, countless doctor's appointments, and a long road to recovery.
More than anything, I am a mom. I have a beautiful 3 year old who still needs me for everything and a 17 year old preparing for one of life's biggest milestones while watching her mom fight cancer. They are my reason to keep fighting. Every treatment I endure is for the chance to watch them grow, celebrate their accomplishments, and make more memories together.
While this diagnosis has been emotionally and physically overwhelming, the financial burden has become another challenge. Being away from work during treatment means lost income while medical bills, medications, transportation, and everyday household expenses continue to grow. Asking for help has never come easily to me, but I've learned that strength also means allowing others to stand beside you. If you're able to donate, no matter the amount, your generosity will help ease the financial burden so I can focus on healing and being present for my children. If you can't donate, sharing my story or keeping my family in your prayers would mean the world to us. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting my family during this unimaginable journey. Every act of kindness reminds us that we are not fighting this battle alone. I have faith that with God's strength, the love of my family and friends, I will overcome this and be here to watch my children grow for many years to come.
