I am Dianne and I am a retired Canadian teacher. In 2015, I visited a very small school in Kihaguzi village in Uganda and saw how hard the teachers and students were working to teach and learn, but with so few resources. I began a nonprofit group called Boomu School Project. The goal was to improve education for the children in this school. Over 11 years we have helped the school with resources and many needed items as well as beginning a sponsorship program for orphans and needy children.
Children in this village normally have to end their education after Primary 7, but through our sponsors we have been able to send a current 19 children to secondary school. And here is the most exciting part...in November 2025, Sylvia completed her O level exams with very good success and now she wishes to become a nurse - a dream she has had since childhood. BUT, Sylvia is from a single parent family, her mother makes chipati for work and is also raising several other children.
I would like to raise enough money to send Sylvia to a 2 1/2 year program for nursing. She has been accepted to St. Andrea Kaahwa Institute of Health Sciences and the local Masindi government has recommended her for a bursary to assist her in paying the fees. Sylvia has everything she needs to move forward except money. What a life changing event this would be for Sylvia, her family and the multitudes of patients she could encounter in her future.
Without our help Sylvia has zero chance of realizing her dream. $5000 Canadian dollars will allow her to board at the school and pay her tuition until graduation. Every dollar donated -100%- will go to fund her education. Ednah, founder and director of Boomu School, will be the local person who will assist in seeing the funds are used appropriately.
Please consider helping Sylvia. You can improve a young woman's life.
