Help Syed Azhar Abidi Battle Cancer & Support His Family

Donation protected
Asalamun-alaykum (peace be upon you) and hello dear friends, family, and community,

My uncle, Syed Azhar Abidi, came to the United States from Pakistan last summer (June 2024) with his wife, Sitara, and their three young children (ages 12, 9, and 7), hoping to build a better future for his family.

However, just one month after arriving, he was admitted to the hospital for severe left-sided back pain and unintentional weight loss (July 2024). Soon after, doctors delivered devastating news: he had metastatic renal cell carcinoma, an aggressive kidney cancer that had already spread to his bones.

Since then, his health has rapidly declined. He now relies on a walker to move around, and climbing the stairs to their second-floor apartment has become unbearable. Despite repeated requests under the Fair Housing Act and ADA, the apartment management has not taken timely action to move him and his family to a first-floor unit, leaving them searching for safe, accessible housing.

His wife, Sitara, is doing her best to work and provide but she does not drive, so my uncle has been driving her to and from work. With his condition worsening, he may very soon be unable to do so, putting the family’s only source of income at risk.

This GoFundMe is to help raise funds for my uncle, aunt, and my young cousins - the most time-sensitive goal is for them to be able to put a down payment on a house, allowing them to live in a safe, accessible home with more space and accommodation for my uncle’s needs. Any additional funds will go toward daily living expenses, end-of-life planning, and ensuring financial stability for my uncle’s family due to his unfortunate prognosis (see below).

My uncle’s team of oncologists have given him a 1-year prognosis (based on studies of patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma, the typical prognosis is ~2 years from date of diagnosis) - in other words, there is no cure, and the only option is to slow down the progression of his cancer with aggressive treatment.

I humbly ask for your support, prayers, and generosity during this difficult time. May Allah (swt) ease my uncle’s suffering, grant him the patience/strength to bear his condition and treatments, & provide blessings and protection for his family. Every donation, every share, and every duaa (prayer) makes a difference. I would like to show my uncle just how much the community comes together for our own in need.

Thank you for helping my family. All donations will be directly provided to my uncle, Syed Azhar Abidi.

Sincerely,
Dua Abidi
