My name is Sydney, and I’m reaching out for help after a life-changing medical emergency. I have severe asthma, and what started as a simple cold quickly turned into a crisis. I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, struggling to breathe and terrified for my life. After trying several treatments, I was intubated and kept on a ventilator for seven days. When I finally woke up, I was so weak I couldn’t even move my arms, and I’ve needed intensive physical therapy just to start walking again. I’m still in inpatient rehab, working every day to regain my independence and strength.

This experience has left me unable to work, and I’m now facing urgent bills that I can’t pay. I have a notice on my door for rent, my utilities are about to be shut off, and I’m struggling to afford care for my three cats and my dog. I also need transportation for wellness appointments once I’m released from rehab. My mom is my only support, but she’s severely disabled herself, so most of this has fallen on me. It’s overwhelming to manage everything while trying to recover.

Despite all of this, I’m making progress every day and I’m determined to get my life back. I have a new appreciation for life after coming so close to losing it.
