On the night of January 21st, I let my dog Sydney outside before bed- a normal part of our routine that I had never thought twice about. A short time later, I realized something was wrong and rushed toward the yard, where I came face to face with a situation no pet owner is ever prepared for: coyotes had entered our yard near our home in unincorporated Mokena.

Sydney was seriously injured and needed immediate emergency veterinary care. What followed was urgent treatment and a level of medical attention far more intensive than I could have ever anticipated.

By what truly feels like a miracle, Sydney survived- and she is now recovering beautifully.

She has completed her medications, had her stitches removed, and continues to regain strength each day. While her progress has been incredible, her healing has required far more care and expense than I ever imagined.

Nearly losing her was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. Sydney is not just a pet-she is my companion, my comfort, and a deeply loved member of my family. When this happened, there was never a question about what needed to be done. My only focus was making sure she received the care necessary to survive and heal safely.

Alongside the emotional weight of this experience has come a significant financial burden. Emergency treatment, follow-up visits, medications, recovery supplies, safety adjustments at home, and unexpected time away from work quickly added up.

Now that we are past the most critical stage and Sydney is on the path forward, I feel ready to ask for support.
