On January 31st we said goodbye to our friend, Joe. 
 
His sudden passing has come as a shock to those who knew him as he braved a courageous fight over the last three months fighting glioblastoma.
 
Diagnosed with a brain tumor as he turned 50 last year, this adventurer who had climbed to the peak of Kilimanjaro, climbed one last mountain with his family by his side.


 
His life was filled with love for his wife Rita and their two girls.  Family meant the world to him as their love story had them travel the world and take nothing for granted over the last 25 years.  A loving father to Sydney (10) and Mia (8), he was proud of his girl’s achievements and showed them so many values to live up to.



 
Joe Gombas was a Senior Director with Research, Valuation & Advisory Altus Expert Services, Altus Group Ltd recently moving from Toronto to the Vancouver office.  As the primary income earner we know how difficult it will be for Rita to maintain the normalcy that they would wish for their girls.
 
Both Sydney and Mia are competitive athletes, Sydney a synchronized swimmer and Mia a gymnast.  Their sports have been an integral part of their lives and helped them transition as they moved from York Region in 2018.  Training as much as 20+ hrs a week at the provincial level has costs that will continue to need to be covered and we are asking that you help to keep their athletic dreams going.
 
It is the amazing family one has in sport that gets us through the tough times and teaches us the many values Joe emulated and wished for his girls; respect, team work and passion.
 


 
We have launched this campaign to support Rita and her family during this tough time. These funds will be supporting the girls so that they can continue to be the shining light in the lives of everyone around them.  Thank you for your contribution.
