Help Syd Vicious get to the Junior Roller Derby World Cup!
Donation protected
Hello!
My name is Sydney Carantit, otherwise known as Syd Vicious. I am 15 years old, born and raised in Littleton, Colorado. I joined roller derby when I was six years old, and I am starting my ninth season playing. I tried out and received an invitation to represent the United States on Team USA’s Open Division team. The donations I receive will help me achieve my dream, a once in a lifetime opportunity, of traveling to Brisbane, Australia and playing in the 2025 Junior Roller Derby World Cup.
At the age of 6 I tried a month of karate but once we decided not to keep going with it, I did not know what sport to try next! My parents took my sister and I to an adult Rocky Mountain Roller Derby game and I thought to myself, “this sport is right up my alley!” My parents found a junior team and although they were hesitant to put their six-year-old out on the track, they signed me up anyway. I instantly fell in love with it and roller skating came naturally to me. I made new friends; I loved my coaches, and I was decently good at playing the game!
Throughout the years of playing on the competitive coed travel team, Denver Roller Derby Major Turbulence, I had a dream of playing in the World Cup against other countries, like the Olympics. My other goal was going “pro” but that is not really an option - yet! Roller derby has provided me the unique opportunity to be a part of a positive and supportive community. I have worked diligently over the past four competitive seasons to improve my skills both personally and as a teammate for Major Turbulence.
The challenge I face is that all expenses for both practices located throughout the US and the World Cup in Australia are out of pocket. I am asking for donations to help offset the cost and appreciate any amount you can give.
Thank you for your support and I cannot wait for Australia!
