WHAT HAPPENED
This past Tuesday, Sydney and I went out on a bike ride to some of our favorite cycling spots in the city. We had a great time, but it was getting somewhat late and it was time to head home. We decided to take the floodwall route as we were in Manchester at the time, and it has the best views compared to other ways of getting back home. After we walked our bikes up the stairs and began to ride along the floodwall, we suddenly found ourselves in a cloud-like swarm of flying bugs. As crazy as it may seem, the air around us was darker because of the sheer amount of these things. I decided to try and power through and get out of the swarm of bugs as soon as possible. As I'm pedaling, I'm constantly getting hit in both eyes by these winged bastards, which was incredibly disorienting. I can (barely) see the end in sight, but right before I make my way out, I hear Sydney yell out behind me and a loud crash follows. She had opened her mouth to say something to me and multiple bugs flew in. At that moment, she lost control of her bike and crashed hitting her face/head on the metal guard rail and the concrete that held it up. I jumped off my bike and ran over to her as fast as possible. She had a giant cut over her left eye, the left side of her nose was so swollen it looked like it was broken, her front tooth was chipped in half, her finger was swollen double the size, and there was a gash in the top corner of her head that was bleeding so profusely it seemed that blood was coming out of her ear. I was terrified that it could've been a severe concussion. A kind and helpful man witnessed this all happen while he was smoking a blunt (lol) and helped me get our bikes back to the parking area while I helped Syd walk to where we had a friend pick us up and bring us to the ER.

After some pain medication, a few x rays, and some sutures in her head, we got out around midnight and went home to sleep. Due to the pain in her mouth she was unable to sleep, so we found a dentist nearby that had an appointment open at 8am and I brought her there first thing. They performed a root canal, put a temporary fix on the chipped tooth to make it look normal enough for the time being, and set multiple appointments in the near future for more root canals and the installation of a crown for the broken tooth.
Needless to say, that was one eventful and very expensive bike ride. We're incredibly lucky that it didn't turn out any worse than it did.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP AND WHAT WE PLAN TO DO WITH THE MONEY
I know she didn't want me to do this, but I am confident enough in our friends and family that we can all make the financial hardships of this accident a bit easier on Syd. If you know Sydney, you know she works incredibly hard (7 days a week most weeks), and while she is able to put some of that money away by working this much, most of it goes to her monthly bills.

The monetary goal I set for this fundraiser is only for a portion of her medical expenses that have accrued from her falling off of her bike, but it will make all of the difference when it comes to the time she had to miss work while she was (and still is at the time of writing) recovering, take care of most if not all of her dental care, and cut into some of the ridiculous bills that we racked up from being in the ER for no more than a few hours.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for anything and everything you decide to donate. We appreciate it more than you may realize. If you're unable to donate, no worries at all. I just ask that you consider sharing this so it can reach somebody that may be in a better position to help.
I very much look forward to the moment where I show her the goal has been reached and witness the realization that some of this financial burden is being lifted off of her shoulders.
