I’m raising funds for my college education after changes in my financial aid eligibility left me responsible for more of my expenses than I expected this semester. I need this support within the next month to help me remain enrolled at Lehman College and continue moving forward with my education.

I’m Sword Avila, a proud first-generation Latina student in my third year at Lehman, where I am pursuing my degree in Psychology. I was raised in Honduras and graduated high school in the Bronx with honors. I have worked hard to get to this point, and I am deeply committed to earning my bachelor’s degree and building a career in the mental health field so I can eventually become a therapist and give back to my community.

This semester has been financially difficult. Although I work to contribute toward my education, my income is not enough to cover all of the costs of attending college. The loss of expected financial aid has created pressure that is hard to manage on my own, especially with deadlines approaching.

Your support will go toward the educational expenses I need to stay in school, including tuition, fees, books, transportation, and other school-related costs. Any donation, no matter the amount, would help relieve some of the financial pressure I am facing and allow me to focus on my classes and my path toward graduation.
