Help Sweetie Pie Walk Again: Her Journey of Rehabilitation

Donation protected
UPDATE: Sweetie Pie will be beginning her journey of rehabilitation. She has her consultation appointment scheduled for May 15th at Twin Cities Animal Rehabilitation Center. This center this has a plethora of services that will be extremely beneficial to Sweetie Pie regaining her mobility. At her initial appointment, they will conduct a thorough exam, in order to create a plan designed specifically for her. We are ecstatic about this next step in her journey. It will not be cheap so if you feel inclined to donate, it will greatly be appreciated. Your thoughts and prayers are still warranted. Thank you all in advance for your support & following Sweetie Pie’s journey of walking again.

Hello all. My name is Danielle. I am creating this Go Fund Me page for my 3-year-old French Bulldog, Sweetie Pie. The evening of Saturday, March 22, 2025, Sweetie Pie decided to take a 'Superman' dive off of the bed, landed incorrectly, followed by a faint yelp. She was walking normally afterwards so I did not think anything of it.

The next day, I took her outside for her morning routine and I noticed that she was walking 'funny.' I immediately picked her up and carried her into the house to lay her down. I began to exam her legs and she did not show any signs of pain. Following my examination, Sweetie Pie attempted to get up to walk but it was difficult for her to do so - she was dragging her right leg. I then contacted her veterinarian to schedule an appointment for her to be seen. Unfortunately, there were no appointments for that day and their Urgent Care had a 6+ hour wait. I was able to schedule an appointment for the following day. The receptionist advised that we wait until our scheduled appointment to come in since Sweetie Pie did not show any evident signs of pain. In the meantime, I made sure Sweetie Pie was rested and for her not to put any unnecessary weight on her legs, although she wanted to get up and move around.

Monday comes (the day of her vet appointment), Sweetie Pie is showing noticeable signs of pain. She was panting heavy and did not want her right hind leg to be touched. We arrived at the vet's office a little later and learned that Sweetie Pie damaged a disc on her spine causing severe back pain. She was diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). Learn more about IVDD here: https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4953012

The veterinarian strongly suggested that Sweetie Pie has surgery asap to prevent her from losing full mobility of her hind legs. This surgery is pretty costly. I was quoted an estimate of $15,000. It would include - a full evaluation and surgery. FULL Transparency - I do not have this type of money lying around. It breaks my heart to know that, alone, I cannot afford to get Sweetie Pie the surgery that she desperately needs. I am in the process of purchasing my first home, in hopes, to close in mid-April. I cannot even apply for a credit card - to max out - if I wanted to. I feel defeated.

I do not ask for much, however I will do ANYTHING to collect some or all of the money in order for my baby, Sweetie Pie, to have her surgery. Sweetie Pie is still young and so full of life. It is not fair to her to have to be bedridden when she is naturally a very active dog.

Some of Sweetie Pie's favorite things:

1.) Her family (including her 8-year-old brother - Yorkie Poodle, Justice).
2.) Zoomies
3.) Belly rubs
4.) Cuddling (she is literally the definition of a 'Velcro' dog lol)
5.) Chasing bunny rabbit (they're just too fast for her but she enjoys the challenge)
6.) ANYTHING food lol

Here is how you can help:

It would be an extreme blessing if you could donate to Sweetie Pie getting her surgery. Anything will help. If you are not in a position to donate, can you please share this Go Fund Me with any and everyone? Post it to your social media pages. Send it to your friends, family members, & work colleagues - your church, your school, your sorority, your fraternity, you name it. Then, ask if they can send this to their people.

Thank you in advance for those who have read this message in its entirety, donated, shared, and/or sent kind words & prayers. The God I serve is a great and merciful God. I know that He will make a way out of no way, and I trust that everything will work out in His favor. Amen.
