In 2021, I adopted the sweetest cat I had ever met. He ran up to me, crawled up the leg of my jeans, and made his way up to my chest, curling up immediately, purring. I named him Sophie. He plopped himself down, trusting that I would hold him. Ever since then, he’s been there, curled up on my chest or shoulder or lap, getting me and our family through everything.
Recently, Sophie stopped running to the door to greet us when we arrived home. He goes through periods of not eating or drinking. We have been in and out of the emergency veterinarian, attempting to get him through each of these episodes. He has officially been diagnosed with Hepatitis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Pancreatitis, and Asthma…. Takes many medications and prescriptions… But we still don’t know what the problem is.
The reason I’m creating this fund is that we just cannot afford to keep going to the emergency veterinarian, paying hundreds or thousands of dollars, especially to still not know how to help sweet Sophie. In just his first stay, he had to receive a feeding tube, endoscopy, small cell cancer test, and more…We cannot give up on him, but we just cannot afford all of this care, surgery, hospital stays, medication, special food… not to mention all of the tears shed in the process.
Absolutely ANYTHING that can be donated will be deeply appreciated. The fundraiser goal number reflects approximately what we have spent so far in attempt to build back our savings or be able to pay for future treatments; we worry that the next episode could happen at any time.
Thank you so much for your attention.
