My dog Pete, a Covid rescue some of you have met, had to have emergency surgery on a dislocated hip. Between the two emergency vets (he dislocated it twice) and the FHO surgery, where they cut off the head & neck of his femur, the $7200 was more than I had so I borrowed $3,000 from family.
Pete had become family enough that no one would let me even consider other options. My ex is letting him recover at her house since it doesn’t have the 2-1/2 flights of stairs that mine does. My daughters have chipped in with money for meds and treats as he endures very limited activity while starting to heal. My granddaughters are buying him get well treats!
Without the head of his femur, his leg muscles have to hold the leg in place while scar tissue builds up a “false” joint which will take weeks if not months.
Pete was living on his own in the woods of Stokes county before I adopted him. He had been adopted before and brought back within the week. He was not housebroken, could not walk up stairs, balked at going through doors and was VERY food motivated - to the point of being physically defensive around his good.
He has become a true companion (though his hunting instinct and abilities have not be quashed) and is referred to as Sweet Pete at the local kennel.
I really need help to pay this back as quickly as possible and am asking for help doing so. I know it will take me a good while to pay off the other but I owe it to my family to prioritize them before the bank.
I know it how it sounds but truly, any help, no matter how small adds up and will be appreciated by all of us.
Thank you for reading and I hope you’ll help out. Feel free to share this.
