Sweet Pea is our 4 year old rescue cat. My husband and I adopted her and her sister, Dumpling back in June 2017 after losing the last of the 4 rescue cats that we adopted. We also provide care for an outside feral and have TNR'd dozens of cats over the years.

Since we don't have children, Sweet Pea and Dumpling are children to us.

Sweet Pea is my constant companion. I work from home and she spends the day with me. She is the sweetest but also the sassiest girl. She loves to be kissed on the head and lay on my chest but she also loves to give my leg a little chomp when I am preparing food for her and Dumpling.

Yesterday, we were devastated to learn that she has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

We want to give the best possible care for Sweet Pea.

Unfortunately, due to Covid, my husband and I have been struggling financially. My husband, who works in the restaurant industry, was out of work the majority of last year and beginning of this year. We have struggled to pay bills and keep our home.

It is important for us to stay in the house where we currently live because we take care of my 96 year old Mom, who is a WWII veteran. Our house has the appropriate handicapped adjustments made for her with the help from the VA.

My husband is finally working but because it is part time only, we are now just able to pay our bills but don't have any credit or extra funds available.

Our first emergency vet visit for Sweet Pea was $1,087 and the 2nd emergency vet visit was $450. I was able to get approved for a $700 CareCredit card that is helping with some of these bills.

In order to ensure Sweet Pea gets the proper medical care, she needs to see a cardiologist. The consultation is $660. She will also need medication that will cost $22 a month.

Sweet Pea is the light of my life and helps relieve the stress of living with an autoimmune disorder, working full-time and caring for my elderly Mom.

I don't know what I would do without her.

Because of this, I want to give Sweet Pea the best, longest life possible.

My hope is to raise the money to cover her medical bills and medication to ensure she gets the best care possible.
