Sweet Pea has been a beloved member of our family for six years, bringing joy and comfort to our lives. Recently, she has been struggling with chronic ear infections that have not responded to any treatments, including multiple rounds of antibiotics and changes to her diet. Our veterinarian has told us that the only remaining option is a TECA surgery, which will give Sweet Pea a chance at a healthier, pain-free life. Right now, she is in a lot of pain and hasn’t been herself for some time, and it’s heartbreaking to see her suffer.

Total Ear Canal Ablation (TECA) surgery is a procedure that involves the removal of the entire ear canal in dogs. It is typically performed to treat chronic ear infections, tumors, or other conditions that cannot be resolved with other treatments. For Sweet Pea, this surgery is the only way to relieve her pain and restore her quality of life.

This year has been especially difficult for our family. My stepdad had his leg amputated due to complications from diabetes and a severe infection, and I moved back to Vermont from California to help support my family through these challenges. Sweet Pea’s health has added another layer of hardship, and we are doing everything we can to make sure she gets the care she needs. After her surgery, she will need to stay overnight with the specialist, and I will be caring for her during her recovery at home.
