Help Sweet Honey Have a Healthy Future!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Honey.
I’m a happy, playful Golden Retriever puppy born Sept 23, 2021. I live with my wonderful new young Mom and Dad in Toronto who got me in early December. I am quite small for my age, but told I'm cute! Unfortunately, I’ve had some tough early days with my new parents, especially the trip to the midnight emergency clinic in December when I was very sick.
After multiple tests at the Toronto Veterinary hospital (including CT Scan), the doctors told my parents I was born with an “Intrahepatic Liver Shunt”. This is a birth defect, meaning that my blood circumvents my liver and doesn’t get filtered properly for toxins. Toxin build up makes me very sick and neurological symptoms appear (balance issues, disorientation, wandering). The good that came from this diagnosis is that I’m now on a specialized diet and daily medicines which is making me feel much better, having good energy and puppy playfulness.
I understand I will have liver surgery in June at the Guelph Ontario Veterinary Hospital to correct the issue. I feel so bad that it will cost my parents so much money as they are young working people. Any $ donation will be so much appreciated by my family and me.

Message from Honey’s Grandparents
Hi Everyone.
Honey is the dearest, sweetest little female puppy and we all fell in love with her at 1st sight. With all that joy of her joining the extended family, very quickly became days filled with fear and concern.
It has been an extremely difficult time for our daughter and her boyfriend managing through Honey’s first days. The positive from all the tests and consultation with the specialized surgeon in Guelph is that the outlook for Honey post- surgery is very favourable and she will be able to live a long a long healthy Doggy life, while transitioning to a normal diet and minimal meds.
Without surgery Honey’s life expectancy is only 1-2 years. Unfortunately, the surgery and post follow up tests are quoted at approximately $15,000. This does not include $5,000 already incurred. There is no pet insurance available. We kindly ask for your generosity to support this beautiful puppy. Each $ donation will mean so much to dear Honey and our family.
Thank you!
