Hi. I am hoping to raise funds for Sweet Boy. On Monday, March 24th, everything was fine, then suddenly Kitty let out a weird meow, panted for 10 seconds, then laid down with extremely rapid breathing, so I rushed him to the emergency vet. He was put on oxygen, and after a few hours, they diagnosed him with heart disease (likely HCM) and what they believe to be active heart failure. I was shown his X-rays with his enlarged heart and fluid in his lungs.

Normally, a critical care bill at this hospital is over $1100, but thankfully they worked with me, so I paid $600 instead.

We are now at home on a strict medication schedule, with an upcoming vet appointment (tomorrow, the 28th).

The emergency vet specialists informed me that with heart disease, kitties are referred to cardio specialists who make the “official diagnosis” using ultrasounds and more intensive X-rays and scans. I was informed that the initial diagnostic test alone costs $1500, with ongoing treatment costs ranging from $50-$300 per month.

I am feeling a little paralyzed with this news, knowing I rescued Sweet Boy from euthanasia a year ago. I only planned on fostering him then, but of course, we bonded, and now he’s my baby. I’m not ready to say goodbye to another baby.

I want to be realistic and ultimately do what is best for Sweet Boy, which hopefully I am able to financially support the best course of action for him. Any and all donations will go towards the official diagnostic tests and a head start on monthly vet visits and treatment costs.
