Help Sweet Bean Bakery and Fam

As many of my followers know, my family has gone through a huge loss and shift. My partner's sister suddenly passed away in September. Navigating this grief and taking on an insurmountable mountain of responsibilities including becoming guardians to our 5 year old nephew has put all of our projects and businesses on hold. For Sweet Bean Bakery this has meant having to put our notice in at the commercial kitchen we were renting for 3 years and burning through our personal and business savings just to get by. Yes, it has been 6+ months but Eli and I have not had nearly enough support, probably because grief is so isolating and exhausting and it is hard for us to ask. Now that we have returned home to Felton I have had the desire to turn our home kitchen into a cottage food operation. Which is an amazing option for continuing Sweet Bean in a new form.
In the midst of a seemingly endless tornado of uncontrollable big life changes, I am looking for flexibility and grounding healing. A new shape where I can provide the goods to you on a less rigid schedule, have time for myself and my family and support us financially. Curating our home kitchen to function as a Cottage Food production will allow me to start providing home deliveries and participate in pop ups and events again. With a super small, not-super-functional kitchen with poor lighting, zero counter space or storage, and an oven that does not work properly, it will need some work.
One of the benefits of a cottage food operation for a small food business is the improved overhead expense. High hourly rates for such a specialized product with expensive specialty ingredients is what has made it nearly impossible to make it worth continuing in the past.
The funds generated from this crowdfunding campaign will go towards a professional quality oven, hood ventilation, counter space, storage, the cottage food permit and business insurance.
I am eager to evolve and shape shift to continue to provide yummy vegan goodness to you again.
If you have the space to donate you would be a huge part of getting this little dream going again and helping me and my family navigate this dark season. Even the smallest amount makes a difference ♥️
With all of my love,
Julia @ Sweet Bean Bakery
