Hi, my name is Flora Scheck, and I am fundraising for the most courageous woman I know. The money raised will go directly to her to use at her discretion. Money is most likely to be used immediately for food and supplies not just for her own family but other people in her community.

 

Why is this so important to me?

 

The world barely had a chance to catch its breath after two years of COVID when this horrible, cruel war in Ukraine broke out.  It arrived with such sudden force that it left us all, the world over, broken and shaken to the core.  But from this unparalleled chaos a woman and her beloved collie somehow rose above it all.  A woman who finds hope in something as beautiful as a clear blue sky, or the warm sunrise of a new day.  A woman whose connection to me, and to a very loving internet group of international collie lovers, began with something as simple as a shared taste in collies.  It was through the eyes and bravery of Sveta, this courageous woman from the outskirts of Kyiv, that we all found hope, faith, and a unity of purpose in this troubled time.

 

Sveta's simple story of love, hope, and perseverance is truly inspiring.  She didn't abandon her home as the bombs began to fall.  She held tight to her home near Kyiv, helping her neighbors who could not flee, the elderly, and the many pets who were left behind.  Her courage in the daily face of death is a story that inspires the world.  It is a story of love, a love that will ultimately prevail . . . a love that will lead to brighter days and blue skies for us all.

 

Her choice to see the good in people even during this cruel war, her constant pray for peace, her faith in her country, president and in their victory is inspiring!
