Hi, I'm Suzy, and I need to raise enough money to get a small business going. I want to start a gluten free baking business from my home. Here in Oregon there are cottage food laws and I will abide by them, but it is perfectly legal to bake in home kitchens. This is where I'm starting.
I am a disabled, autistic adult with two autistic kids. I can bake, I am really good at it, because I had to completely relearn how to bake 19 years ago, when I found out I couldn't have gluten anymore. My teenage kids want to learn how to work but both are unable to work outside the home. I don't have the resources to do this without your help.
Gluten free baking is much more expensive than traditional. Right now I can buy flour at a wholesale price but even that is not affordable for me. I am living on a severely limited income. I'd like to find a way to give my kids some work experience and skills that they will likely otherwise not get.
I've been thinking about this for a long time. I have recipes. I have skills. My baked goods are better than most available store bought stuff. I want to start small and grow, so I don't need a lot to get going. Even $300 would help get this idea off the ground.
I have retail experience. I have a ton of home baking experience because I had to learn how to make things. Back in the day there weren't any good gluten free items in grocery stores. Sheer necessity made me adapt recipes passed down through my family so I could eat my familiar favorites, and share them with my kids. I know that I can do this. I just need a little boost to get there.
It's my birthday next week and I'd be really happy to have some help by then. I've been trying to find a way to do this for months without asking anyone for money, and nothing has panned out.
My mom taught me that when the world doesn't give you what you want, you have to make it happen. I still don't know how she managed to bend the universe to her will, and she's not around anymore, so I can't ask. But I can ask you if you can spare a little. Every little bit will help. It all adds up. And I'm sure that my mom would be glad to see me finding my way, no matter how long it took me to get here.
My kids look forward to earning some money and learning some life skills that they don't currently have. Can you help?
