My name is Suzanne Thomas, and I live in Slidell, Louisiana. I never imagined I would be writing something like this.
I lived in my home for 25 years with my partner, Troy. We shared a life, raised children, and built what I believed was a permanent home together. Tragically, Troy took his own life on our back porch about 5 years ago. That loss alone shattered my world.
Not long after his death, Troy’s ex-partner and their older daughter pursued legal action and ultimately took the home from me. Despite having lived there for decades, I was forced out. I lost my partner, my home, and my sense of stability all at once.
I am now living out of my vehicle.
I am a mother of four. I share one daughter with Troy, and I have three other grown children of my own. Unfortunately, none of them are in a position to take me in right now. I work whenever I can, taking odd jobs like painting, cleanup after construction, and any work I can find, but it hasn’t been enough to keep up with the sudden costs I’m facing.
I am asking for help to get through the next few months so I can get back on my feet. Funds raised will go toward:
• Temporary housing or hotel stays
• First month’s rent and a security deposit
• Storage for my belongings
• Gas and food
• Past-due electric bills
• Court and legal fees related to losing my home
I am not asking for a handout. I am asking for a bridge. A chance to stabilize, secure housing, and rebuild after an unimaginable loss.
Any support, whether through a donation or sharing this page, truly means more than I can put into words. I also need help fostering my two beloved cats: Minnie and Patches. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any kindness you can offer.
