My name is Suzanne, and I’m reaching out because I’ve found myself in a situation I never imagined. Recently, I met someone on a dating app who seemed genuine and caring, but it turned out to be an elaborate, convincing, and devastating scam. This person manipulated me into investing my life savings and convinced me to take out large cash advances from my credit cards. In desperation, I even borrowed money from my parents, hoping things would turn around. Instead, I was left with nothing but overwhelming debt and a deep sense of shame and embarrassment.

Since this happened, my mental health has suffered greatly. I’m constantly stressed and feel desperate for help, worried about losing my car and the few assets I have left. My dad and a few friends have tried to help me, but we haven’t found any support at all for my situation, I’ve reported my situation to the authorities, but have gotten no response. I’m very upset with myself for letting this happen, and it’s been hard to see a way forward. I was just starting to lose weight and save up to buy my own house—my dream was to move to Nashville, Tennessee, and be part of the Country Music scene. Now, that dream feels so far away.
