Hello, my name is Katherine, and I am Suzan’s daughter.

After much encouragement from friends and loved ones — and many prayers for guidance — my mom and I have decided to share her story and ask for support during this difficult time.

About My Mom

Suzan is truly a gift from God. She is the reason I am still alive today — my best friend, my anchor, and the most selfless, loving woman I know. She’s been a second mom to my friends, a compassionate nurse to countless patients, and a guiding light for so many through her faith and kindness.

For over 10 years, she served as a nurse at Touchstone, where she poured her heart into caring for others. Even in retirement, she couldn’t stop helping people — she returned to work at the Hamilton ER on weekends and as a pain management nurse every other week. And I should mention — this amazing woman is 70 years old and still stronger than most 30-year-olds! She’s also beaten breast cancer twice.

Suzan’s Diagnosis

After months of uncertainty and countless doctor’s appointments, we finally received an answer on November 4, 2025:
Suzan has been diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Small Cell Carcinoma that has metastasized throughout her lymph nodes and bones — including her shoulder, ribs, leg, pelvis, and lower back.

The plan is to begin chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and bone-strengthening treatments as soon as insurance (Medicare) approves — hopefully within the next week.

Despite everything, Mom’s spirit remains unshakable. Her oncologist was amazed by her toughness. But recently, her pain has worsened and her chronic cough has made it impossible for her to continue working. She’s currently applying for long-term disability, but those benefits will take time.

Our Story of Resilience
In 2023, our home burned down. We lost everything — including our four beloved cats. It was one of the darkest times in our lives, but through God’s grace, we found purpose in our pain and rebuilt from the ground up. Suzan designed her new home exactly how she wanted it and adopted three new beautiful cats.

This new battle feels even heavier, but our faith remains strong. We know God is walking with us — and we trust His plan, even when it’s hard to understand.

How You Can Help
Suzan would never ask for help herself — she’s too strong and too humble for that — so I’m doing it for her.

We are raising funds to help with:
Medical bills, treatment costs, and medication
Transportation to appointments
Comfort and care needs at home
Lost income during this time of healing

Even small donations make a difference. And if you can’t give financially, we ask for your prayers — because they truly matter.

Lastly, I want to share that Mom and I had planned a cruise at the end of this month (she’s the Cruise Queen!) — a trip that can’t be refunded or rescheduled. Though we won’t be able to go, your support will help us redirect those funds toward her medical care.

Faith Over Fear
Suzan and I have been through the depths of hell together and have always come out stronger, hand in hand. This diagnosis has shaken us, but we are determined to face it with honesty, courage, and faith.

We want others to know that grief and fear don’t have to be hidden. We believe that through openness, we can honor God’s plan — even in the hardest seasons of life.

Thank you for reading, sharing, praying, or donating. Your love and support mean more to us than words could ever express.

With love and faith,
Katherine & Suzan
