Support for My Dad’s Recovery and Family Expenses

Dear friends, family, and kind supporters,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart as my dad is currently in critical condition. On Friday January 3rd, his heart rate dropped to just 20 BPM, and he was rushed to the ER. Thankfully, the doctors ruled out cardiac arrest, sepsis, and stroke. He was transferred to another hospital over an hour away to see specialists and determine whether he’ll need a pacemaker. He is stable with an assistance of medication and resting in the ICU. They are still trying to determine the cause, which may be an infection, accidental overdose of medication, or simply low body temperature which affected his BPM.

Chris and I flew out from Portland, OR on last-minute flights, spending $1,200 for tickets we normally would’ve booked for $300. We left home around 3:30pm and arrived to San Jose, CA around 8pm. My friend Ryan drove us to Tracy, CA where my father lives. They had to transfer him to Roseville, CA so we drove 1.5 hours then around 10:30pm. After a long day, we arrived at the hospital around midnight and checked into a hotel nearby to stay close. This has been a whirlwind, and our focus is on being by his side as much as possible while supporting my mom. I am expected to spend about $1,200 on lodging, transportation, and food.

Once he is stable and the cause has been identified, they will transfer him to Tracy Sutter Hospital. Then, they will place him in a 20-Day live in rehab program. Next, both my parents needs to be relocated to Portland, OR so Chris and I can be close by and take care of them. My parents “earn” and live off $1,600 monthly fixed income so I need to find them low income studio while waiting for senior housing. Ideally, I would also be able to find a caregiver for my dad.

Note about my dad: he is a wonderful father. He’s always been content, low-maintenance, and incredibly hardworking for our family. Though we grew apart during my teenage years, he’s always been a loving and steady presence in my life. Now, he’s facing a major health crisis, and I want to ensure he has the best chance at recovery.

To help my parents through this difficult time, I’m raising funds to cover:

• Medical expenses (including tests, treatments, and potential procedures like a pacemaker).

• Moving costs (to relocate my parents to a low-income apartment in Portland, OR, where they can be closer to me and Chris for better support).

• Travel and lodging costs (flights, hotel stays, and transportation while we’re here supporting my dad).

Our goal is to raise $7,500 to ease the financial burden on our family during this time of uncertainty. The total expense is expected to be over $10,00 out of pocket. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. I would love to see 150 people donate $50 each to help meet this goal. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your network would mean so much to us.

Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support. Your love and generosity are a light in this challenging time, and I’m deeply grateful.

With gratitude,
Suwai and Chris
