Heyo! Sutekh94 here.
I am a 31-year-old artist/illustrator who's been doing what I can to maintain a consistent production schedule in the absence of having a "proper" job, and I am currently in the process of making a webcomic about magical girls. I used to be a YouTuber, but I quit uploading videos about a year ago because YouTube as a platform is seriously going downhill for reasons I won't discuss here. I'll probably need to find a job soon to have a more stable source of income than just art commissions and the like, since my art is currently not able to financially sustain me on its own. I've also had some critical electrical work done to my house recently, something that alone will cost me $2,700. Fortunately I have enough money in my savings to pay for that. All things considered, it's been a struggle as of late juggling all my projects around and feeling down about myself for - again - reasons I don't wanna discuss here, but I've generally been doing okay with taking care of myself and living on my own in a rather large house.
Recently, on August 30, I was involved in a car accident.
I was pulling out of a recycling center to return home when I saw another car come out of a blind corner to my right far too late. In my panic, me and my truck, the Ford Ranger you see in the photos, wound up colliding with that car, my right front to its driver side. Thankfully, they slowed down enough to where it was a relatively slow speed collision, and neither myself nor the driver of the other car were injured in any way. Shaken, yes, but no injuries or hospital trips, just a pair of wrecked vehicles in what was a complete accident.
I'm incredibly relieved to know that the driver of the other car forgave me for what happened. She was so kind and gracious towards me, and I'm sure she was doing her best to avoid me or at least minimize the damage, slowing down enough to prevent the accident from becoming far more serious than it was. And I hope she's still doing okay. In case you're wondering, she does have insurance.
I should also mention that I live in a very rural and quiet part of the USA. Not many places around here are walkable, and bike lanes aren't that common. Basically, I need a car to do a bunch of things, including going to grocery stores, paying bills, and going to whatever job I wind up finding, if I find a job within the next month or two. And I own no other cars at the moment, soooo yeah.
In the time since I set this gofundme up, I've gotten my truck back after it got towed away to a garage/junkyard from the scene of the accident. The best part is that it drives about the same as it did before the accident, but obviously it needs so much work and repair to get to how it was before the accident. On the morning of September 16, I took it up to a repair shop and got quoted a $1,000 - $1,500 repair bill for all the damages it sustained. I decided that would be better and cheaper than buying a decent used car, so it's currently sitting up at the shop awaiting repair. I should get it back in about a week or so.
All money donated through this gofundme will go towards paying that repair bill.
I dunno what else I can say or do about this situation at this point. It's hard for me to admit, but this is the first gofundme I've ever set up for anyone. If nothing else, I deeply appreciate any support I can get to help get my truck fixed. Every little bit helps so much.
Whether you've known me since the days when I made MLP fanart, if you started supporting me yesterday, if you know me IRL, or if you're a complete stranger who happened to come across this page and wanted to help out, I can't thank all of you enough. I wouldn't be here without your support, and if you do wanna help out, you can donate, share this page around, support me on my Patreon, and commission me on my Ko-fi.
Thank you so much for reading all of this.
