Help for Susun - Shoshana

Dear beloved friends and family of Susun/Shoshana:

We are writing with both good and challenging news, and for a humble request for support.

Our Susun/Shoshana is at a point in her healing through the cancer journey where she needs additional assistance to manage. We, her friends and family, feel that it is wise to reach out broadly to see if we can raise some funds to hire some help to lessen her stress.

You know Susun/Shoshana is determined, loving life 150%, and resilient! That continues. Over the last few years she has endured repeated rounds of chemotherapy, 2 types of radiation therapy, hospitalizations for side effects, and, currently, treatment with novel immunotherapies to manage recurrences of UPSC - Uterine Papillary Serous Carcinoma, an aggressive cancer.

THE GOOD NEWS IS the new immunotherapy treatment program – started in February -- has pushed the cancer into possible remission. Everyone is thrilled! However, the combination of aggressive tissue-damaging treatments (especially the radiation) and current therapies have left Susun/Shoshana with excruciating pain (finally being addressed through pain management strategies, which come with their own challenging side effects), cumulative fatigue, and difficulty managing many activities of daily living.

As some of you may know, recently Susun/Shoshana has been in the hospital and at a rehabilitation facility for several weeks in order to further stabilize her pain management strategy, combat debilitating nausea, and to support the rebuilding of her strength. As of today (11/22/2022) she is still hospitalized, getting stronger, and anticipating a trip home - hopefully soon. Returning home means adaptive equipment and a few renovations to make her home more accessible and safe.

Despite the challenges, Susun/Shoshana continues to manage a complex web of doctors, appointments, consultations, as well as continuing to work part-time in the career she loves whenever feasible, but she needs more support beyond what her current income can provide at this time.
