Lisa Hartouni has spent decades using photography and community storytelling to document the people, neighborhoods, and movements that shape our world. From organizing tenants and building neighborhood associations in Santa Monica, to working as a photojournalist, independent photographer, and web designer, Lisa has built a life around making change visible. Over the years, that work has grown into deeply rooted long-term projects, including Intersections: Portraits of Neighborhoods, archival work connected to Manzanar, and a moon photography series created through years of patient observation. Lisa’s photographs have also documented social justice struggles involving detention, voting rights, and police abuse, always grounded in the belief that communities deserve to see themselves and their stories reflected with care.

Now Lisa is asking for help to preserve and sustain this work for the long term. After her websites were hacked, she needs support to rebuild that online foundation and create a more stable path forward. Contributions will help restore her websites and add print sales and checkout, cover office and project infrastructure such as equipment, software, and ongoing costs, set up fiscal sponsorship and administrative support so future donations can be tax-deductible, provide an operating reserve while new income streams ramp up, and support print and archival production.
