We’re raising funds to cover the lost tuition and legal fees we’ve been forced to take on after a suspension of our childcare license by the NYC Department of Health.

Despite our spotless record, years of dedication to early childhood education, and no harm caused, the office has chosen to take an aggressively punitive approach to what we know is an unfortunate misunderstanding. As a result, we now face an uncertain future.

Green Hive is more than a program—it’s our life’s work, built with love, integrity, and deep commitment to children and families. We’ve always prioritized transparency, community, and children’s rights. What’s happening to us could happen to any small provider.

Your support will help us keep fighting for our program and protect the future of play-based, inclusive education in New York. Every contribution helps us keep our obligations to our staff, landlord, and stand up to a system that too often works against small, community-rooted programs like ours.

We are not alone in this fight, many small, BIPOC-led childcare programs are being crushed by disproportionate enforcement, while large corporate centers with serious safety violations continue operating without interruption.

These big programs can lawyer up, buy time, and protect their interests, all while benefiting from a system that quietly clears the path by pushing out smaller programs.

The system is broken. It protects profit, not children.

And still, we are willing to fight to continue showing up, every single day to give children the joy, care, and belonging they deserve.
