Help Susie with covering her Med Flight

Starting this page in the hope of support from our Vineyard family and friends, near and far. Anyone who knows the Madeiras family would agree they are kind, extremely giving and have a love for this island and its community like no other. I think anyone would also say that their fearless leader, Susie, is one of the strongest women any of us know, with an incredible gift of perseverance and positivity.

Over the last few years, Susie has been struggling with her arthritis and has had several surgeries on her feet, greatly affecting her mobility. After a difficult battle with Covid this winter, she planned a much-deserved vacation to Mexico with a few close friends and her son. Halfway through this trip, however, an unfortunate accident occurred where Susie fell at the resort and broke her femur. This resulted in an emergency surgery to be performed in Cancun, and a large effort from friends to find a way to get her back to the US and home to our beautiful island. Through a Med Flight company out of Scottsdale, AZ we were lucky enough to make this happen, and Susie was flown from Mexico to our airport here on the Vineyard, where she stayed in the hospital at MVH for a week before being released home under the close care of her children.

Unfortunately, this flight was not free and cost a large sum of money to coordinate. While there is no price on having your loved ones safe, sound and cared for, we are asking if anyone would be comfortable donating and offsetting these costs for Susie and her family. Any donation is so greatly appreciated, and 100% of the money received will go directly to paying for these medical expenses.
