I’m creating this GoFundMe for my best friend, Susan, who has endured more in the past year than anyone should ever have to face — and now urgently needs help securing a safe place to live.

Earlier this year, Susan nearly lost her life. She became critically ill and had to undergo a liver transplant. After a long and frightening hospital stay, she spent time in rehab and eventually came home, focused on healing and rebuilding her strength.

During her recovery, Susan was living with her mother. Just a few short months after Susan returned home from rehab, her mother unexpectedly passed away. Losing her mom was devastating emotionally — and it also left Susan without stable housing.

The home she had been living in is in severe disrepair and is no longer safe to live in. It is falling apart and is expected to be condemned soon, making it impossible for Susan to remain there. Due to her recent medical trauma and ongoing recovery, she is not physically or financially able to address the extensive repairs needed or relocate on her own.

We are raising funds to help Susan:

• Secure a safe, stable apartment

• Cover moving and housing-related expenses

• Regain stability after a year filled with medical crisis and loss

Susan is one of the kindest, most selfless people I know. She has survived a life-threatening illness, lost her mother, and now faces housing insecurity — all while still trying to heal both physically and emotionally.
