Help Susan & Chidgey, Lismore Floods 2022.

Donation protected

Hi everyone,

As you all may know, my mum Susan and her husband Garry ( aka Chidgey ) have lost everything to the Lismore floods this week.

They spent Sunday moving everything as high as they could, believing it would be safe from the floodwaters.
As you would have seen on the news, many Lismore residents stayed home up high as they all have in previous times safely, not expecting the river to peak over 14metres as it sadly did.

Unfortunately, this time around was different; Mum & Chidgey were waist-deep in water on their top floor with the water still rising. Thankfully they were rescued from their home early Monday morning by boat, with just a basket of clothing. All they have left now are a few shirts, undies and pants. They have lost all their possessions, furniture, clothes, photos, and keepsakes my mum's parents had left her, who have passed.

Their house has been submerged for days, except for the roof, as you can see in the News pictures and attached aerial shots. They were able to gain access today to assess the damage and see what they could salvage. Unfortunately, the damage to their belongings and their home is devastating. They have a very long road ahead of cleanups, inspections, repairs and more.

They have only just recovered from the 2017 flood that damaged their home downstairs. They have never asked for help and have worked themselves into the ground over the past few years to have the house looking fabulous again.

My mum and her husband are hard workers and are known to many in the Lismore/Casino community.
They are the first people to put their hands up to help others.
But this time, there is too much devastation, and they will need help.
They are unable to attend their jobs at the moment due to the floods and will need their home sorted, so they have somewhere to live.
I've had endless calls and messages from family and friends of theirs and mine, asking how they can help.

Please consider a small donation to help.
The money raised will go towards food, accommodation, clothing, cleaning supplies and general household items when they can move back into their home.

I have attached some pictures to show some of the damage to their home, the aerial shot of when the water started to go down and pics of Mum and Chidgey at their home with their grandkids in happier times.

If you have read this far, Thankyou from the bottom of my heart.
Stay safe and take care,
Alisha x
(Susan's daughter)
