On Nov. 8, 2018, our lives changed forever. The Camp Fire consumed our sleepy little town of Paradise. We, like so many, lost our home and everything in and around it. That Thursday started like any other day but quickly turned into a nightmare as once our green trees became silver as light disappeared. With urgency, we evacuated while explosions got closer and closer. It was dark as night. What normally was a few minute trip to get out of town took over 3 hours. We emerged with disbelief and confusion.
Losing your home is a great deal more than losing the house. The real home is we, the people in it and the belongings we hold dear. Lost to us are 5 VW vehicles in various stages of rebuilding, 30 years of journaling, a lifetime of photos and artwork, a garage full of tools, a Ms. Pacman game,3 computers, priceless heirlooms from loved ones no longer with us, homemade Christmas ornaments, seasons of trophies....imagine everything. The pain is unbearable. Devastation is a word that only begins to tell a story, a story that can not be retold the way it was.
Words can not describe how grateful we are. We have been blessed with kindness, love and open arms from wonderful folk along our journey in this new life. Unfortunately, the unconditional goodness does not replace the hardware of a home. For this, we need you. Thank you kindly for your time.
