Cancer Recovery Support

Shortly before Christmas Jaydin went to walk in for a very minor issue. While there she remembered to also ask the Dr about a small painless "chocolate covered almond" size lump in her neck. The Dr sent her immediately for an ultrasound, then another Drs appt with a different Dr, more testing, then an ENT (ears, nose, throat) specialist appointment, one last appointment then off to Edmonton for an ultrasound guided biopsy.
No one had told her anything about what was going on and honestly she will admit she didn't really question much as she puts it "I am 30 and perfectly healthy I'm just going threw the paces"

That attitude unfortunately was forced to change - the biopsy Dr delivered some shocking news before the appointment even started (I guess the previous results where THAT obvious) that the lump was in fact cancerous.

More scans, tests, appointments and a whole lot of needles, then back to Edmonton to meet with a surgeon. He went over all the events that where to take place from here on out. Jaydin said despite how garbage the diagnosis is, she felt very confident in her surgeon. He was very professional, exuded competence, and really spent a lot of time explaining everything.

The Cancer started in/on the thyroid and unfortunately the 3 tumors that formed are malignant. Which means the Cancer is spreading. Good thing the lump showed up or who knows when she would have caught it. The surgery is to remove the full thyroid gland, and all the lymph nodes on the left side from behind ear (bottom of skull) down to the collar bone.
The surgery is set for Feb 28.

Prognosis is VERY good for survival unfortunately, the recovery time is quite long. If you have ever met her for more then a minute you know she is a work horse. As a small business owner taking this amount of time off leaves her in a vulnerable financial position. In order to focus on a successful recovery, I have set this up to remove any financial burden for the coming months.

5-7 days in the hospital before returning home for rest and recovery. She has been keeping in good spirits most of the time, keeping lots of positive energy flowing. I often hear her reciting "it has to happen regardless so lets try not to freak out about it, that won't help anything" around the house. She is strong, and frankly to stubborn to let this thing win. There will be a follow up treatment (in springtime) for sure where she will be down and out for a week after this initial surgery takes place. Then (fingers crossed) hopefully no other surgeries needed if things go well.

She is very proud and would not typically ever ask for this sort of thing. She is passionate about supporting other charity groups. Donating items, money and time to organizations like:
Rock for a Cure
Telemirical
Slay The Night
Furbabies Furever Homes
Border Paws SPCA

The biggest one being the annual Howloween Fundraiser. Now its our turn to show her our support.

Any help would be more than welcome and appreciated.
