Support the Landry Family - Devan’s Emergency back surgery

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am Ashley’s sister. I am raising funds for Devan, Ashley, and the kids (Maycee, Myles, & Mylah) during this challenging time.

From Ashley:

•Came to KC (1/2/2025) for an appointment with a spine specialist due to dealing with lower back pain since August that has gradually gotten worse. When we left the appointment he was unable to walk. A Good Samaritan tried assisting me with getting him to the car. Which was unsuccessful. So Devan ended up crawling the rest of the way to our vehicle. We had a MRI scheduled at 5:45 to get to but his pain was to unbearable. Which pushed us to going directly to the ER.

•After many hours in the KU ER waiting room. We got a MRI ordered. Devan was unable to lay flat and stay still so he had to be sedated. The MRI showed he had a severe L4/L5 herniated disc that’s putting pressure on his spine and nerves causing bilateral leg paralysis and genital area numbness. After meeting with ED Doctor and the Ortho Doctor they decided he needed surgery asap to prevent any permanent nerve damage.

•The morning of 1/3/2025 he was scheduled for a Laminectomy at 10am. They are going to go in and take out that disc that is protruding so his nerves can heal and hopefully get feeling back in his legs and other areas soon.

•Doctor came out of the OR at 2:00pm and said it was the 2nd largest disc herniation that he has ever seen! Surgery went well. They’re letting him wake up a bit before they let me back there. He has to stay another night for observation.

•Thank you to everyone that has reached out and prayed for us! It is very much appreciated. But special thanks to my parents (Marie Mullins) for taking care of the kiddos for us! And of course Dr. Joseph Wiener and the nursing staff here at KU Orthopedic!

1/8/2025: Devan is currently still in the hospital. OT & PT recommended transfer to a rehab facility for a minimum of 2-4 weeks. They are currently in the process of working on transferring him.

The funds raised will be used to assist with medical costs and other costs while Devan is out of work for the next couple months.
