Help Support Zy'Najsia's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
This fundraiser was created by the family of Zy'Najsia (Nae) Nunnally. We made this for those who wish to reach Nae with their loving donations as they'll be used to assist her long road to recovery.

On July 4th, 2022, at approximately 11:30 pm, Nae became a victim of a crime and suffered severe injuries. While outside popping fireworks with family and friends, she was struck by a car, went airborne and tossed about 20 feet away. The driver did not stop and sped up to escape the scene leaving Nae and her family in complete turmoil. She was left with an open femur fracture, scratches, abrasions, a fractured wrist, direct hair removal from the scalp and even a hairline brain bleed. She had to undergo a 5-hour intensive surgery and was monitored very closely for other possible issues. Nails and rods had to be inserted into her leg to support the bone as they would assist with the repair of the femur. While this surgery was successful, Nae will have to undergo another intensive surgery later. A police investigation is ongoing to help get justice.

Zy'Najsia is 11 years old and is the second oldest of four. She attends Ewing Marion Kauffman School. Nae loves to dance; it's one of the few things she kept asking if she would be able to continue to do. Nae likes to laugh, spend time with her siblings and cousins, help in the kitchen and even do nails. Zy'Najsia is a good kid who makes good grades. She didn't deserve what happened to her. She's our family's rock and heart, and we are blessed to have her still here. Despite her injuries, she has been optimistic about the entire situation. She appreciates all the love and support she has received thus far.

With an injury of her extent, it would take at least a year for her to heal. Depending on her healing progress, she will have to use a wheelchair primarily for the next 3 to 6 months. She will also have to go through physical therapy to learn how to walk again and regain strength in her leg. This situation has been one of the most traumatic things she and her family have ever been through, especially witnessing the incident front hand. It's a miracle that Nae is here today and able to see her family again. While the last few days have been easy, we know there will also be hard days ahead. We have already started to prepare and transition to be the best support team she could have. Nae will need additional medical supplies and equipment for her injuries.

We appreciate those who have reached out and sent love. You guys don't know how much this means to our family. This has been a complete nightmare and has changed all of our lives that quickly. So again, thank you so much and continue to keep us in your prayers.
