Help Support Zane Yanosko’s Battle With Cancer

Zane Yanosko was like every young man starting his life.

After graduating from Norwin High School in 2017, he attended and graduated from the University of Dayton with a civil engineering degree in 2021. He just got hired by Pennsylvania soil and rock and was in training where he was learning more about the field. Zane also has a love of lacrosse and has played most of his life. He even came back to Norwin High School as an assistant coach three years ago.

That all changed in August 2023 when he was first diagnosed with testicular cancer (Embryonal Carcinoma). He went in for surgery a week after being diagnosed and went through treatment. Unfortunately, on a follow-up visit, Zane‘s cancer metastasized to his lungs. He’s received chemotherapy at Hillman Center from September through November 2023. His cancer did not fully respond to the chemotherapy in his lungs. Zane has nodules in both of his lungs that will need to be surgically removed according to the thoracic surgeon. He will have to endure two separate surgeries to remove the nodules. He has 15 nodules in his left lung and 8 in the right lung. Today he went in for his first nodule removal surgery (Thoracotomy)…January 30, 2024. His first surgery did go well today, but he has a long road ahead of him.

Needless to say, this has been devastating for the Yanosko family. Zane is home with his parents, Jim and Kathy, who are caring for him. Zane has always been a responsible, young adult, animal lover, great brother to Emma and Seth, and a wonderful role model for our youth.

We all know the costs associated with cancer treatments. Now facing the expenses of two lung surgeries on top of that and the uncertainty of possible future treatments.
