Help Support YYC Liz Gil Battle Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Liz Gil, wife, mother and amazing woman, was diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Carcinoma on April 13, 2022. With a family history of breast cancer, she made the bold choice to opt for a double mastectomy on June 3rd. A post-surgery biopsy of the tissue will determine further treatment consisting of either chemo, radiation or a combination of the two. However, treatment won’t be started for 6 – 8 weeks after her surgery to give her body time to heal.
Liz has been working as a dedicated Behaviour Support Worker in a high-needs class of middle school students in Calgary. Unfortunately, her position will be eliminated as of June 30, 2022, meaning that her salary will cease at that time. Liz has just secured a new position for the fall, assuming that she is well enough to resume working at that time. However this summer will be a financially challenging time for the family.
Always being the person who will do anything for anyone else, it is challenging for Liz to accept support, however she knows that she needs to put all of her energy into healing, rather than worrying about money and the wellness of her family.
Funds raised will be used for supplies not covered by insurance, monthly household expenses, meals, home support equipment, including a safety bar to be installed in the shower and therapeutic treatments such as physio as required. And most importantly, some of her required meds are not covered by insurance! No amount is too small, and every donation will truly make a difference for Liz and her family. They are truly grateful for your support and believe that every dollar donated is a blessing! Gracias!
