Help Support Winter and Ro Hart After Greg's Sudden Passing
Donation protected

On July 17, 2025, my father, Greg Hart, passed away from complications due to acute septic shock syndrome due to a perforated bowel in Las Vegas, NV. He leaves behind me, Winter Hart, my mother Ro Hart, and our five cats - Martel “Marty,” Chau, Fry, Toriel “Tori,” & Kekoa “Koa.”
Unfortunately, he also left us a ton of debt, mismanaged finances, and a lot of legal stuff we now have to go through in order to get all the titles of all the property switched over to my mother’s and my legal names, as well as bankruptcy proceedings started (which he’d been thinking about doing only briefly before he got sick). We knew only a fraction of just how much stress this had him constantly under, as he wanted to handle everything himself for the last five years especially.
My dad had just begun getting some mental health help for his chronic depression, extreme anxiety, OCD, & PTSD starting only two months before he passed. A lot of why we are now struggling as a result of his passing is because he refused to share the burdens of running the household monetarily and legally with either my mother, his disabled (without benefits, because benefits in NV require a longer, extensive, and more recent work history, and also she’s now retired) wife, or me, his disabled (without benefits, with the same qualification issues as my mother) daughter. Even though we asked so many times to be included, he still insisted that he had everything under control and worked out. And he only told us part of the truth about it actually not being that way about a month before he died, when he began floating the idea of bankruptcy (chapter 7). Even though we both told him it was a good idea, he only sat on it, waiting until the last moment to address it. And unfortunately, now we have to, without him.
We love him so much, and we tried so hard to help him once he finally consented to being helped. But he waited too long on getting his perforated bowel checked out, just as he unfortunately tended to wait too long to address anything else that stressed him out. And he didn’t share all of his anxiety or worry about everything, only about some things, with us, even though we’d always been here and willing to support him however we could.
All of this isn’t to say we resent him or anything of the sort for leaving all this to us, OR for not sharing the burdens of household management with us — far from it. But the reality of our situation is that we desperately need help to be able to put legal proceedings into motion, pay for our mortgage and monthly bills (including groceries, utilities, necessities, cat vet bills, grooming for our one long haired cat, and medical expenses such as for our regular medications, as well as quite literally anything else that may come up). We still also don’t know how much the travel costs to and from where we are planning to meet with family for his memorial/celebration of life will be, either, so this number may increase from the original estimated number.
We’re starting with a ballpark 14k goal, with it being able to be stretched to 50k if we get that lucky. Anything donated will help us with living expenses, such as utilities like gas, electricity, water, sewer, & trash; groceries (food, water, cat food); bills like for medications & insurance (car, house); and, if we’re lucky enough, anything to throw at the debt my dad has going on still (a personal loan, a credit card, and several pay-in-4 bills).
Please don’t feel like you have to give us anything, but especially if you’re also struggling like we are. But if you are able to, please consider donating anything you can monetarily to us.
I (Winter) am also working on having an art commissions sale over on my Ko-Fi (linked below) and putting more print on demand art prints and other items into my store over at Etsy (also linked below). I am also hoping to start doing some content creation/streaming again over on my YouTube and Twitch. I may also be looking into anything else I can do outside of these avenues, like rideshare driving, food delivery, & other things, but only if I can do it given my own disabilities (chronic illnesses, former ankle injury that flares up when used too frequently, chronic pain). But none of those are guaranteed to really work out for me OR my mom.
My mother and I will also always accept donations via my PayPal, CashApp, and Venmo (all also linked below), as well as Ko-Fi (you don’t need to commission me or buy anything, you can just donate there too if needed).
Please also consider spreading the link for this GFM around on social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, tumblr, Instagram, Bluesky, your communities on Discord, wherever else) to help us gain some extra traction.
Thank you so very much, whatever you’re able to do to help us. Even just sharing will help immensely. We are in dire need, and literally anything would be helpful. We appreciate every single one of you.
