Hello,
I am a proud parent of a Watsonville High student-athlete, and I am reaching out to ask for your support on behalf of the Watsonville High Girls Golf team.
Unlike most sports at the high school level, golf does not compete or practice at school facilities. As a result, the team pays for green fees for practice and competition along with all other items needed through donations and fundraisers. This includes new golf clubs, bags, tees, gloves, lessons and dinner after their round of play.
The players along with family members put in numerous hours and hard work volunteering to fundraise this past summer.
Last year, for the first time in school history, the Watsonville High Girls Golf Team won its first-ever Pacific Coast Athletic League Championship. This year, they not only won the PCAL Championship for the second year in a row, but they did so by going 14-0 in league play. Additionally, four of the five competing players earned first-team all-league honors.
Simply amazing!!!
However, here is why I plead for your support.
The school district is in a severe budget crisis leading to deficits and the need for painful cuts, including somewhere around 160 job cuts. With your help we can make sure they have another successful season.
Our goal is to raise $3,000 to support the girls’ golf program. This money will go towards paying for greenfees, a proper banquet for this year’s championship team, and to help offset a little bit of the costs for next year’s team.
If you find yourself being able to help out in any way possible, we as parents, players, and coaches of the Watsonville High Girls Golf Program would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you for your support,
And GO WILDCATZ!!!!!
