Let's Support Wayne and Cassandra
Wayne “Weezy” DuBois is finally home after almost a decade inside! Wayne is a prominent member of the Black Prisoners Caucus, an integral member of Taking Education and Creating History (aka TEACH), and a teaching assistant for the parenting inside and out class. Anyone who has met him knows Wayne is a caring, generous, and empathic person who while incarcerated discovered his passion for guiding those around him toward a path of accountability and change.
Wayne is a trained restorative justice facilitator who has developed his own curriculum to help guide others through the restorative processes. With his remarkable skills as a facilitator Wayne has helped so many open up and heal from past traumas while incarcerated. He plans to continue this work while at home and is committed to using restorative tools to support youth and break cycles of generational trauma.
Wayne is also a devoted parent. One of the first things he did when he got home was pick up his 9-year-old daughter who is now living with him and his partner. Wayne’s loving partner, Cassandra Butler, is a prominent member of the organizing community who works with a number of organizations including, The Village, FreeThemAll, and Covid 19 Mutual Aid. The couple are building a supportive loving home for Wayne’s daughters. And have already hit the ground running with continuing their important work in the community.
This couple has done so much for those around them. We are hoping community can now support these two incredible people as they build a life together!
We are hoping to raise $5k to help with costs like transportation, food, clothing, etc. All the things it will take to help get Wayne situated without financial stress.
Thank you!!
