Wayde woke up on Christmas Day with some cold symptoms. On the 26th at 2 am he woke up with severe neck pain and was crying in pain. They took him to the ER that morning. They waited in the waiting room for 5 hours. When he got a bed, his labs came back severe his white blood cells (4-11 normal range) was 20 and his lactic acid (normal is <2) was 2.7. His heart rate was very high, breathing was fast, and had a high fever. After 14 hours and not much done. He was sent home. He had awful pain and swelling that made him have a hard time breathing or swallowing. He came back to a different ER. He had a redraw of White blood cells 29 and lactic acid of 5. Still all the others symptoms. He had a CT scan and it showed two abscesses. One was pushing on his lung. He underwent emergency surgery to remove the abscesses and has been intubated for 2 days and will be in the ICU for a week along with a long road to recovery.
