Help Support Veronica Delgado-Garcia a Transplant Survivor

Donation protected
In 2018, Veronica Delgado-Garcia went in for a routine checkup and unveiled an unexplained diagnosis of Hashimoto's Disease. During the treatment they uncovered a drop in GFR levels. As we faced the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, her medical appointments were delayed, leaving much uncertainty regarding her health. By August 2020, she she was diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy, also known as Berger’s Disease. Sadly, was told by medical professionals there was noting they could do for her, as she was deemed terminal. Despite the grim prognosis and the fact that no transplant options were available in Indiana due to her condition, she remained steadfast in her fight. It was in January of 2022, she received a glimmer of hope for a potential match, but unfortunately, due to specific qualifying factors, it wasn't a viable option. In June 2022, after being added to the transplant list at UIC in Illinois, she began peritoneal dialysis five times a week. For the past two years, she has shown incredible strength, balancing her responsibilities as a dedicated teacher, club sponsor, wife, mother daughter, and friend; all the while enduring the discomfort and pain associated with her condition. Through it all, she maintained her unwavering faith, patience, kind heart and remarkable optimism. In June of 2024, She was added to the transplant waitlist in Indiana and Wisconsin. It was on the morning of Saturday, January 4th, 2025 (at 6am!!!) that she finally received the call we had all been praying for, a MATCH had been FOUND! Her and Eddie said goodbye to the Lili and Edward and raced to the hospital!

Veronica is currently recovering at UIC in Illinois after a successful kidney transplant!! Yet, just as the path that led her to this moment was not easy, neither was her arrival at the destination. Your prayers and collective trust in the Lord are truly the reason Veronica has endured and remained hopeful in her recovery. Both prior to surgery and after, she experienced an extreme allergic reaction to one of the anti-rejection medications and faced compounding complications. A surgery with an anticipated time frame of 4 hours turned into 9 hours and ultimately her surgeon was required to change their initial plan, in order to deliver the best outcome, for Veronica. However, these changes had an unexpected result of multiple unknowns after surgery and a more challenging recovery. Due to the complications experienced alongside surgery and after, her care team has gone to great lengths to ensure her body is receptive to the anti-rejection medications she will be taking the rest of her life. She spent 5 nights in the ICU and 3 additional days being monitored before discharge. God willing Veronica will be returning home Sunday, January 12th.

Veronica Garcia is not just and outstanding teacher; she is a beacon of generosity, compassion, and dedication in her community. Recently, she experienced a life-changing miracle; a long-awaited kidney transplant that she fought tirelessly to receive. While this gift has brought an immense hope for a healthier future, it also comes with significant challenges. Veronica will be out of work for several months as she focuses on her recovery, leaving her family to face a prolonged period of lost income alongside mounting medical bills. Now, WE have the opportunity to support her and the Garcia family during this critical time. Your donation, no matter the size, will provide them with the assistance they need to navigate this difficult period. Let's come together to show our love and appreciation for an individual who has touched so many lives. Every contribution will be met with immense gratitude, helping to ease the financial strain as Veronica focuses on healing, recovery and returning to the life she loves. Thank you for your generosity and support!

God bless you and yours, always!!
