Help support Vaughn and his family

Hi! My name is Heidi Woodard. My brother and sister-in-law, Kyle and Lisa, just received news that no parent ever wants to hear. Their youngest son, Vaughn, 11, was recently diagnosed with Blastocyst Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Neoplasm Leukemia, a very rare form of cancer, especially in children.

To put this in perspective of how quickly life can change: Just a couple of weeks ago on December 4, Vaughn had a playdate with a friend and was fine. However, that night he woke up not feeling well. When he was still not getting better and had tested negative for Covid, flu, and strep, he was sent to get some blood work done on Dec 13. Just a few short hours later, they were sent to the Childrenś Hospital in Iowa City to investigate and treat cancer!

Currently, they are working on a treatment plan, which looks to be a 2.5-year plan. He has already started chemo as of December 16. During this time, Kyle and Lisa will be missing considerable work to spend time at the hospital. For those who may not know, Lisa is self-employed, which means if she is not working, she is not earning any money.

Therefore, to take one burden away from them and ease their minds, please consider donating to help them through this nightmare. They will need money for hotel rooms, dining, transportation, and, of course, medical bills and missed income.
