Help support Vasily's family during ICE detention

Tax deductible
Hello, my name is Natalia.

My husband, Vasily, was detained by ICE on November 11, 2025, and is currently being held in a detention facility in Georgia. I am now alone with our three children, including our youngest, who is only 2 years old. At the moment, I am not working because I am taking care of my children, and my youngest child is not yet eligible for a free daycare.

Due to the loss of my husband’s income, we were forced to move out of our home. Thankfully, a friend has allowed us to stay temporarily. In addition, my husband’s mother has also been in ICE detention for over 14 months, and our family has been living under constant stress and uncertainty.

Our only remaining hope is to file a habeas corpus petition. The cost of this legal service is $6,000. Time is extremely limited, as detention cases move very quickly.

The absence of their father has deeply affected our children emotionally. They miss him every day. Our youngest son walks around the house saying, “Daddy, daddy,” and it breaks my heart.

I humbly ask for your support. Any help, whether financial or by sharing our story, means more than words can express. Thank you for your kindness and compassion.Your support could make a life-changing difference for our children and help reunite our family.

Families Belong Together

As the "breadwinner" for his family, it is on purpose that ICE has detained him. For many detained parents, their separation from their families and their jobs causes more stress to an already stressful situation. It weaponizes money and resources to pressure the loved ones left behind to self deport. Removing him from his life was never about "safety." We know this because even when people follow "the rules," they are still detained; they are still separated from their loved ones; they are still punished - just for being born on a different land and trying to find freedom in the US. Detention of people immigrating to the US was never about community safety - it is a billion-dollar industry that uses our tax dollars for the profit of corporations like Geo Group.

Community members belong in community in their pathway to citizenship, not a detention center and not a processing center for months to years. Community is proven support system that ensures people can go through immigration proceeding with humanity, dignity, and success.

How You Can Help

While we continue to push back against the criminalization and dehumanization of all immigrants, there are some ways that our extended community can help. While he remains away from his family, his wife and children need support in paying legal fees.

We do not know how long the family will need to continue fighting for their case, but we know that it's likely to be at least several months. No matter the outcome, this family could use as much financial help that you can give. Thank you for supporting him and his family. Thank you for supporting the immigrant people who are members of our communities. Thank you for being good humans.

Asian Americans United (fiscal sponsor of Sarin Gal) is collecting the funds for Vasily’s wife, Natalia, to use for necessary finances. We will transfer all the funds raised to Natalia to help pay for legal fees, her rent, food for her and her children, utilities, and transportation!
