On Saturday, August 22nd, my older brother Tyler was in a serious bicycle accident and subsequently suffered a traumatic brain injury. After surviving the initial crash, he has a long and intense road of recovery ahead of him. These next few days are some of the most important in his recovery as we expect to see the risk of swelling and bleeding in the brain dissipate. After the hospital we are praying that he gets a spot at the inpatient rehabilitation center of the hospital he is currently at (he is considered a top priority but as of now there are no beds available).
Tyler will be without any income for at least one month, while accruing significant medical bills and waiting for disability to be established. This will be a major financial burden and our goal is to ease it in anyway that we can, so he can solely focus on getting better. He won’t be able to work for quite a while as he is focusing on rehabilitative therapies and regaining his independence.
Tyler is truly one of the most giving and empathetic people I know. I have no doubt that whatever he receives, whether it be monetary or just positive thoughts and prayers, it will be paid forward in the future. I will continue to post updates on his progress. We deeply appreciate everything that has been done for Tyler and our family during this extremely difficult time.
