Help Support Tomonari Nishikawa's Family

Dear Community,

It's with deep sorrow that we mourn the loss of Tomonari Nishikawa. He was a devoted husband, a loving father to three beautiful children, an inspiring teacher and colleague, an incredible filmmaker, and a kind friend to many. His loss has left his family devastated and facing a challenging road ahead.

In the wake of this tragedy, Miki Nishikawa is now navigating the immense challenges of single parenthood while managing the many responsibilities that come with the loss of a partner including finding a new full time job, seeking extra help for their children, and stabilizing the family. Friends and loved ones are coming together to support her and the children during this incredibly difficult time. Miki will now be the sole breadwinner for their family. She is enrolling in a new degree program in order to be better prepared for the job market.

This fundraiser has now been updated to help ease the financial burden that has come with Tomo’s passing. Immediate donations will go toward childcare for their three children as Miki plans to continue studying for her degree, as well as Miki's upcoming travel to Japan to return Tomo’s ashes to his family and tend to the affairs he left behind there. Further donations will support Tomo & Miki's families travel to the U.S. from Japan to help with the children, planting a cherry tree in Tomo's memory, ongoing daily living expenses during this time of transition, and creating a stable, nurturing home environment as the family begins to rebuild.
