Tim Thigpen is having an aorta-femoral bypass surgery next week. His aorta is 100% blocked in his abdomen. He hasn’t been able to walk very well for a couple of months now. Tim has been almost immobile, even using a wheelchair at times.

His insurance company denied his MRI, so he eventually went to the emergency room. Tim was unable to feel his legs, and the hospital admitted him. Otherwise, he would have never known about the blockage. Their insurance company isn’t paying for that bill, citing it wasn’t in their vascular guidelines for him to stay there. Tim and Jamie pay an ungodly amount every month for insurance, and it doesn't cover much. The insurance company will probably try to pay as little as possible for the surgery as well. Recovery time for this surgery is about 2-3 months. The doctors are also not sure if this will totally fix his inability to walk. They are already discussing putting a stent in another artery and possibly having back surgery on his bulging discs. They can’t speculate about all the underlying nerve damage either. Tim and Jamie are very overwhelmed.

Tim is a loving, caring father of three and devoted husband. With him being unable to work right now and Jamie also having to take off, they are completely financially strained. No family is ever prepared for this. If you're able to contribute, even a small amount, it will go a long way in helping the family alleviate some stress and focus on Tim recovering.
