My dear brother, Tim, and his sweet wife, Trish, have just experienced the unthinkable in losing their darling baby, Teagen, at only 7 weeks old.
Teagen was born on March 15, 2018, with a congenital heart defect and diagnosed with DiGeorge’s Syndrome. She had open-heart surgery at just 5 days old to repair her interrupted aortic arch and to fix a hole in her heart. The 8-hour surgery was successful, and Teagen started her road to recovery. Unfortunately, the first month of her life was a struggle. She had to stay in the hospital for more than a month with complications with her heart rate, calcium levels, and breathing on her own.
Finally, on April 20, Tim and Trish were able to bring their baby home. They were so happy to start their journey with their daughter. Teagen still needed a feeding tube (for food and medication) at home, and Tim and Trish had to administer a shot to help with a blood clot in her leg. They took her to a checkup on April 26, and all was well.
On the evening of May 1, Teagen started to get fussy and wasn’t able to keep down her feedings. The next morning, Trish and her mom were on their way to the pediatrician’s office when Teagen stopped breathing. They rushed her to a nearby emergency room, where doctors and nurses tried to save her.
Teagen passed away on May 2, 2018.
Tim and Trish are trying to manage their devastating grief, but are burdened by the funeral costs and medical bills that are still coming in. Many family members and friends have asked us what they can do, so I have set up this account in hopes of making it easier for everyone who wants to help Tim and Trish during this difficult time.
Thank you all for your kind words and loving thoughts. Tim and Trish truly appreciate all the support they are getting. Anything you can contribute is much appreciated.
