My Family Home in Beautiful Altadena
In 1962, when Jacaranda trees painted Altadena's streets purple, my family's dream took root in a modest craftsman house with a sturdy oak tree in the front yard. What began as creaky floorboards and peeling paint transformed into a sanctuary where every room held precious memories, known as the "Ponderosa".
The dining room table, worn smooth by countless Christmas brunches and gatherings, witnessed tearful goodbyes and joyous reunions. The front yard and backyard hosted weddings where brides walked beneath string lights and paper flowers, while graduation celebrations spilled onto the front lawn as proud relatives captured precious moments on camera.
The kitchen, heart of the home, filled with aromas of family recipes passed down through generations. Children learned to walk holding onto furniture their parents once gripped, and the two large Christmas tree evergreens watched over decades of birthday parties, Sunday barbecues, and quiet morning coffees on the porch.
Now, as my family prepares to transition into a new chapter and say goodbye to the old, please extend what you can to help the healing process into a brand new day.
This GoFundMe will be used to in the direct aid and assistance for my family in our time of need. I am the daughter of Richard Maiden, and this is a piece of our family history.
You will be contributing to not only my family, but a family community of builders, doers, thinkers, makers, and all that makes Beautiful Altadena.
Thank you.
