Help Support Theo and His Family on His Journey to Recovery

UPDATE:

Theo is finally home with his family and has now begun the long journey toward recovery. Your continued support means the world to us, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Hi, I’m Victoria, Theo’s aunty and I’ve created this GoFundMe to support Theo and his family as they navigate his long road to recovery.

Theo’s Story:

On April 15th, Theo was in a bike accident that led to a trip to the hospital. During a routine CT scan to check his jaw, doctors made a shocking discovery — a large mass on his brain. He was immediately transferred by ambulance to PCH, where he stayed for five days undergoing further tests and an MRI.

The surgeons initially believed it was a massive cyst — one unlike anything they’d seen before due to its size. Incredibly, Theo had shown no symptoms and had lived his whole life with this in his brain, growing alongside it since birth.

Theo was booked in for major brain surgery on May 5th. The operation lasted 7–8 hours. Unfortunately, the following days were extremely difficult. He was in severe pain, unresponsive, unable to eat, move, or open his eyes. After 7 days of no improvement, another CT scan revealed a hematoma (a dangerous collection of blood on the brain) and an air pocket. He was rushed in for emergency surgery on May 12th — again, a 7-hour operation.

The emotional toll of facing such serious surgeries and unknown outcomes — including the risks of paralysis, memory loss, or worse — was overwhelming. What was thought to be a cyst turned out to be a benign brain tumor, the largest the surgeons had ever encountered.

Theo has now spent over 3 weeks in hospital. He is slowly recovering but has a long road ahead — with months or even years of physiotherapy, speech therapy, and regular neurology appointments at PCH.

This has placed a huge financial strain on our family. I have taken on full-time care for Theo, including schooling and all medical needs, while Lee has taken leave from work to care for our other child and help keep our family functioning.

We are reaching out for support to help cover bills, basic living expenses, and the ongoing needs of Theo’s recovery, so we can continue to be by his side without the added pressure of financial insecurity.

Theo is determined to get his life back and return to being the happy, active child he was before this tragedy changed everything. Any support, big or small, means the world to us during this time.

Thank you for your kindness, love, and support.
